摘要: Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) shunt infection is a serious and potentially devastating complication of CSF placement. Younger age, previous or revision, the type are important risk factors for infection. More than half cases caused by Staphylococcus aureus coagulase-negative staphylococci. The biofilm plays central role in its pathogenesis. cultures remain gold standard diagnosis most effective way to prevent optimization sterile protocols use proper timely antibiotic prophylaxis. Management frequently requires removal all components, placement temporary external device, administration intravenous antibiotics, followed reshunting at later time. This review summarizes analyses results reports assesses prevention management this entity.
