摘要: In New Zealand there is an increasing trend for people with prior occupational experiences to enter secondary teaching. At a time when the media continually questioning status and capability of teaching profession, we explore what or who motivates change their paths profession. Our sample 68 newly qualified change‐of‐career teachers reported multiple factors related decision pursue The matrix reasons involved range “push pull” previous work family experiences, values task expectancies. Three cluster groups – “Looks Good”, “Time Right” “Teaching Me” were developed illustrate relative influence different combinations reasons. We looked at how these teachers' motivations impacted on early long‐term career expectations intentions.
