摘要: Summary Three experiments are described in which the effects of a number management and social factors on mating efficiency domestic sheep were studied. Ewes ovariectomized oestrus was induced using oestradiol benzoate (ODB). The attempts to mate by individual rams reduced when competition for available ewes high, socially dominant being most sexually active. Attempts stimulate constant contact with rams, either quiescent or other ewes, did not affect subsequently exhibited oestrus. This depended entirely dose ODB administered also affected characteristics oestrous response. Oestrus commenced later shorter duration at lower than higher doses. In addition, served each ewe total times mounted, both probably associated oestrus, similarly ODB. use marking crayons harnesses detection this type found be satisfactory but extraneous marks received during handling animals introduced small error (2·5–7·0 per cent).
