摘要: Objectives. To compare charting of physiological parameters manually by nurses and automatically computer so decide whether this task could accurately be performed computer.Subject/setting. 101 consecutive patients admitted for tertiary neonatal intensive care.Design. Direct comparison 48 hours data collected both methods. Computer stored each second the hourly median compared with single value noted nurse.Methods. All were monitored standard patient monitor a computer. Four between nurse (both derived information from monitor): heart rate, transcutaneous oxygen, mean blood pressure, central temperature. A random 51% had displayed as trends at cotside. Comparison observation value. was before after removal artifact. In addition, effects on nursing observations either display or non trend assessed.Results. Nurse statistically significantly different (p<0.001), though these not clinically important. Nurses tended to note higher figure than median. The cotside improved consistency observations. Artifact present in little influence accuracy value.Conclusions. systems can chart data, providing more flexible record minimal risk reliability
