摘要: Mediterranean xero-halophytic meadows are a priority habitat for conservation in the European Union. In Camargue (Rhone delta, south of France), these heavily colonized by Phillyrea angustifolia shrub. order to evaluate respective roles livestock and rabbits control, we recorded aged individuals subjected 3 different treatments: grazing rabbit plus traditional extensive cattle horses from beginning 1970s, only, only with their temporary elimination 1987. We found little difference either age distribution or density between grazed ungrazed domestic herbivores. where were temporarily eliminated strong increase number time this exclusion onwards. addition, shrubs 35-y-old experimental plots cattle, horses, rabbits, rabbits. 90% Thus, current decline populations appears be new threat meadows.
