摘要: Nonreligious people (those without a religious affiliation) and atheists (individuals belief in god) make up sizable proportion of the world’s population. In this chapter I provide definitions for various terms used sociological study nonreligion atheism. then examine findings regarding characteristics nonreligious atheists. summarize research on reasons why leave religion and/or adopt an atheistic worldview growing body exploring pervasive prejudice discrimination against atheists, particular, US around world. conclude with some suggestions future areas related to sociology
