摘要: Abstract Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the cause perioperative stroke after carotid endarterectomy. Methods: records 2365 patients undergoing 3062 endarterectomies from 1965 through 1991 were reviewed. Sixty-six (2.2%) operations associated with a stroke. mechanism determined in 63 66 cases. Patient risk factors and surgeon-dependent analyzed. Results: More than 20 different mechanisms identified, but most could be grouped into broad categories ischemia during artery clamping ( n = 10), postoperative thrombosis embolism 25), intracerebral hemorrhage 12), strokes other surgery 8), unrelated reconstructed artery( 8). Dividing operative experience approximately thirds, years 1979, 1980 1985, 1986 rates 2.7%, 2.2%, 1.5%, respectively. This, part, is better selection (more symptom free, fewer neurologic deficits). There has been notable decrease caused by hemorrhage, remain major complications. Conclusions: Although patient seems play role, due technical errors made endarterectomy or reconstruction preventable. (J VASC SURG 1994;19:206-16.)
