摘要: The Global Strategy for Plant Conservation (GSPC) sets a series of ambitious targets 2010 to stem the loss plant diversity. Target 2 calls preliminary assessment conservation status all known species, at national, regional and international levels, but with less than 3% global diversity assessed date, process must be greatly accelerated. This can best done by mobilizing taxonomists identify species that are threatened (or potentially threatened) using available distribution data from herbaria other sources, including IUCN Red List assessments in their taxonomic works. Emphasis should placed on rare taxa restricted ranges, which most likely risk. Sufficient nearly thereby limiting number relegated "data deficient" (DD). community play unique role fulfilling GSPC goals, we act quickly.
