摘要: Barrett's esophagus is defined by metaplastic glandular changes to the distal and linked an increased risk of esophageal adenocarcinoma. Controversy exists whether definition should be limited intestinal type glands with goblet cells or expanded include non-goblet cell columnar epithelium. may asymptomatic in a large proportion population but screening considered for those certain clinical findings. The diagnosis based on combination careful endoscopic evaluation histologic review biopsy material. Continued surveillance biopsies necessary cases indeterminate low grade dysplasia. Clinical follow-up patients high dysplasia tailored individual patient. Development newer endoscopy techniques including chemoendoscopy, chromoendoscopy use biomarkers frozen tissue have shown some promise identifying at malignancy.
