摘要: Ultra-endurance running provides numerous physiological, psychological, and nutritional challenges to the athlete supporting practitioners. We describe changes in physiological status, psychological condition, intake over course of two 100-mile races, with differing outcomes: non-completion completion. Athlete perception pain, freshness, motivation differed between events, independent rating perceived exertion. Our data suggest that integration multiple sensations (freshness, motivation, hunger, thirst) produce performance. Increases carbohydrate feeding (+5 g·h−1) protein (+0.3 g·kg−1) also likely contributed successful completion a race, by reducing fractional utilization maximal oxygen uptake satiating respectively. Nutritional support notion gut is trainable, critical organ respect ultra-endurance Finally, we propose future research investigate rate at which peak occurs throughout as this may further serve personalize sports nutrition strategies.
