摘要: Portable clinical analyzers are currently used in human and veterinary medicine for diagnostic testing blood monitoring; however, normal values mice rats of varying genetic backgrounds have not previously been reported. Blood was collected from unanesthetized (n = 131) 76) into lithium heparin tubes analysis using E6+ cartridges the portable analyzer. Results glucose, urea nitrogen (BUN), sodium, potassium, chloride, hematocrit, hemoglobin were compared to published ranges provided by a contract laboratory. Analyzer computed as mean +/- 2 standard deviations test samples, such that approximately 95% tested animals would fall within resultant range. The degree overlap between analyzer ranges, or percentage range contained range, calculated all analytes. For mice, 5 7 analytes had more than 57% overlap; rats, 6 over 65% overlap. After establishment confirm hyperglycemia Type I diabetic elevated BUN with induced glomerulosclerosis. can be valuable screening tool both phenotyping care rodents, potential investigations spontaneous experimental disease laboratory rodents.
