摘要: Since both intellectual disability and challenging behaviour are entities encompassing heterogeneous clinical conditions current taxonomies of limited use in this field psychiatry, diagnosing psychiatric symptoms intellectually disabled patients is still very complex. In the diagnostic process behavioural abnormalities, first step should be genome profiling using latest techniques order to detect pathogenic CNVs or single gene mutations that causative for developmental delay. Their importance can derived from scientific observation several genetic syndromes associated with a specific behavioural, psychiatric, neuropsychological neurological symptom profile, relevant choice treatment prognosis. Second, it has stressed disorders, especially depression anxiety spectrum, frequently manifest atypical may hamper adequate pharmacological treatment. With respect behaviours general, emphasized these essentially dependent on contextual variables which no rational available interventions primarily warranted. Prescription psychotropics been demonstrated marginally effective only induce regularly unwanted side effects even an increase abnormal behaviours. It therefore recommended measure always plasma concentration antiepileptics perform, preferably prior start treatment, genotyping cytochrome isoenzymes. concluded that, apart priori analysis, careful investigation here described data sources needed formulate hypothesis proposal.
