摘要: Acne vulgaris is a skin disease affecting many young people and, if it continues into their twenties, can be substantial barrier to social relationships. Although there evidence that sufferers are adversely psychologically affected, what less apparent from research date whether this because of negative self-beliefs or the discriminatory attitudes others. This study set out explore how far with moderate acne viewed favourably compared clear-skinned peers. The design was quasi-experimental. faces two male and female 21-year-old volunteers clear were photographed then again after having had facial signs simulated by professional make-up artist. Photographs face given 143 participants who divided randomly conditions: "Clear" "acne". former shown unblemished latter acne. asked estimate age person in photograph rate volunteer on scale 16 personality items.
