摘要: Abstract Multiyear all-season characterization of the columnar optical properties aerosols over Bay Bengal (BoB) has been carried out using simultaneous data from MODIS and TOMS satellite sensors. Significant spatio-temporal heterogeneity observed in aerosol BoB. Latitudinally, derived Aerosol depths (AOD), its Small mode fraction (SMF, except pre-monsoon) shown increasing trends towards northern latitudes A pocket high Index (AI) values north-western part BoB during pre-monsoon. Longitudinally, variations are subdued comparatively. SMF tend to increase weakly eastern longitudes all seasons. Variations parameterised best fit analytical functions. By examination AI, AOD SMF, it inferred that load responsible for higher AI pre-monsoon is dominated by transported UV-absorbing dust.
