摘要: The sociology of emotions and the science arose concurrently (circa 1975-present), but connections between these subfields have been rare. Existing research pleads for greater integration contextualization. This chapter synthesizes critically assesses eight decades on emotional aspects science. Taken together, extant literature indicates that pervade as a practice, profession social institution. Emotions support ability to perceive observe empirical patterns relationships, make specific types knowledge claims. They are elemental facets scientists’ career evaluations work life, their influence process informs consequentially impacts form content scientific knowledge. Collective states affective relationships also essential collaboration fomenting large-scale collective action in movements. Finally, gave original impetus distinctive institution, continue it by acting agents control community. Overall, is rapidly emerging generative area its own right, has potential significantly advance general sociology.
