摘要: We prospectively evaluated the effects of L-carnitine supplementation on plasma free carnitine (FC) levels, serum lipid profile, and erythropoietin (rhEPO) requirement in 24 children treated with peritoneal dialysis (PD; n = 16) or hemodialysis (HD; 8). The study was divided into a 3-month observation period, treatment period during which patients received 20 mg/kg per day given orally. Clinical, biochemical, hematological data were collected every 3 months. FC levels measured dialysate by tandem mass spectrometry. There no statistically significant changes hemoglobin, rhEPO requirements course study. Fifteen (13 PD, 2 HD) had before after treatment; increased from 32.1 ± 14.1 μmol/l to 80.9 38.7 (P < 0.001). In PD patients, losses 106 78 μmol/day at baseline 178 119 supplementation. Positive correlations between (R 0.507) daily excretion 0.603) found treatment. our case series, an oral dose restored produced positive balance parameters profile over period. Prolonged duration may be required obtain results.
