摘要: Abstract Abstract. The success of a pack African wild dogs, Lycaon pictus, hunting Thomson's gazelles, Gazella thomsoni, and blue wildebeest, Connochaetes taurinus, in Serengeti National Park, Tanzania, was influenced by the age prey number dogs together, but not amount cover available, size groups, or distance at which groups fled. study suggested two ways may benefit from communal hunting. First, it increased range species available to pack. Although single regularly killed both immature adult they were observed kill wildebeest calves, did hunt successfully. Larger more successful than smaller ones. Second, reduced interspecific competition spotted hyaenas, Crocuta crocuta , through improved defence carcasses.
