摘要: Carbonate factory turnovers are the integrated result of climatic, oceanographic and biological controls. Sedimentological, geochemical palaeontological data from core XK-1 drilled in Xisha Islands, South China Sea, reveal that photozoan to heterozoan carbonate during Early Middle Miocene isolated platforms were mainly caused by changes upwelling regime. A open bank association thrived tropical shallow water under conditions nutrient excess, indicated high ln(Cu/Ti) ln(Ba/Ti), increased abundances rhodoliths some foraminifer genera. During Miocene, episodes characterized a production correlate with times East Asian Summer Monsoon strengthening, especially 21.2 17.3 Ma 15.6 11.6 Ma. This study thus provides new insights into variability deposition monsoon-influenced areas also shows can contribute better understanding monsoon9s evolution.
