摘要: Abstract Detrital heavy minerals commonly document the geological setting in source area, hence they are widely used sedimentary provenance analysis. In mineral studies, 63–125 and 63–250 μm grain size fractions most used. Heavy data garnet geochemistry of stream sediments bedrocks from catchment area draining Almklovdalen peridotite massif SW Norway reveal that a wider spectrum needs to be considered avoid misleading interpretations. The consists mainly dunite harzburgite, as testified by suite. At outlet main river, is very monotonous due dilution strong influx olivine. like apatite epidote characterising host gneisses have almost disappeared. MgO-rich almandine garnets more frequent coarser fractions, whereas MnO-rich finer fractions. Garnets with pyrope content exceeding 50% only found 500–1000 μm fraction. Therefore, sample location selected fraction paramount importance when dealing geochemical data; otherwise, provenance-sensitive information may missed.
