Land-use changes in European mountain ecosystems : ECOMONT-concept and results

摘要: The ECOMONT research programme was carried out from 1996 to 1998 as a contribution the European Union's 4th Framework Programme - Research and Technological Development. aim of project clarify what ecological changes resulted restrictions on land use in different mountain habits. Variously used no longer alpine pasture ecosystems were examined six regions Austrian Swiss Alps, Spanish Pyrenees Scottish Highlands. Using most modern means research, nine groups Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Spain Great Britain processes, single plant landscape. In present first volume authors describe concept, special features landscapes novel methods applied, such Geographical Information System, remote sensing mathematical modelling. results presented deal with, among other things, effects land-use vegetation soil, animal biodiversity, water carbon balance exchange processes between lower levels atmosphere.
