Hardening of fullerite C60 during temperature-induced polymerization and amorphization under pressure

摘要: We report a detailed study of Vicker’s hardness and ultrasonic elastic moduli for carbon phases prepared by heating fullerite C60 at pressures 3.5, 5, 8 GPa. It is shown that the transformation two-dimensional polymers into graphite-like amorphous accompanied an increase in 100–200 times, as well bulk shear 4–5 2–3 respectively, with no density jump taking place. proposed high (up to 40 GPa) disordered synthesized caused three-dimensional ordering sp2-based network. was found that, 3.5–8 GPa interval, mechanical properties obtained depend basically on temperature rather than pressure synthesis.
