摘要: In this combined electroencephalographic and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) study, the asymmetry of functional structural measures in human parietal operculum (PO) were investigated. Median nerve somatosensory evoked potential recordings showed maximum scalp potentials over contralateral (N80, N110) ipsilateral (N100, N130) temporal electrode positions. accordance, MRI-coregistered source analysis revealed two electrical sources PO. The dipole orientations contra- with earlier peak activation, N80 N100, more tangential than those later peaking N110 N130 sources. most prominent exhibited pronounced left lateralized strengths 80- to 120-ms latency range, contrast symmetrical responses. activity explained both N100 potentials. Morphometric demonstrated no interhemispheric differences sizes anterior PO (aPO), containing cytoarchitectonic areas OP3 OP4, but posterior (pPO), which encompasses anatomically defined OP1 OP2. was located pPO its significantly correlated not handedness auditory lateralization. Thus asymmetries exist they are closely related each other brain systems, i.e., lateralization handedness.
