摘要: Telecommunications networks require a variety of tests to monitor their proper operations. Performance monitoring (and fault detection) the physical layer transmission system is one them and usually accomplished by using bit error rate test (BERT). The BERT invention uses modified ATM idle cells conduct one-way, bidirectional loopback BERT. are loaded with data at transmit end recovered receive end. processed according different rates system. parameters derived from received data. disclosure describes method as well for performing such test.
