摘要: The Global Strategy for Plant Conservation calls a preliminary assessment of the conservation status all known plant species by year 2010. To date insufficient progress has been made on meeting this target. New efforts to develop list beyond using full IUCN criteria in assessments are needed. Here we present an algorithm that provides data from herbarium specimens. We use Hawaiian specimen United States National Herbarium calibrate parameters and then Arecaceae, Commelinaceae, Gesneriaceae Heliconiaceae as examples application algorithm. was calibrated insure 95% accuracy placing into previously independently determined threatened categories. Our results indicate 28% taxa, 27% 45% 32% Gesneriaceae, 35% NotThreatened will not need any further evaluation assessment. Species identified here Potentially Extinct Threatened can be assessed additional material and/or specialists final other strategies (e.g., regional national lists, taxonomic expert assessment, etc.).
