摘要: Background: Heart failure (HF) is a major problem in developed countries. However, its relationship with obesity remains unclear, especially low-risk populations. The objective of the study was to analyze between and HF Mediterranean population. Hypothesis: Obesity an independent predictor for HF. Methods: A prospective community-based population cohort 10 years' follow-up conducted at 2 healthcare centers city Barcelona, Spain. From registered 35 275, included 932 randomly selected patients without HF, age 35–84 years. Obesity defined as body mass index (BMI) ≥30 according European Society Cardiology guidelines, confirmed by echocardiography. Cox proportional hazards regression used examine association heart failure. Results: The difference incidence obese subjects (4.7%) nonobese (1.6%) 3.1% (95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.7–5.5). In unadjusted model, incident significantly associated BMI: hazard ratio [HR] 1.09 every 1 kg/m2 increase CI: 1.05–1.14) 3.01 BMI 1.34–6.77). After adjusting age, sex, hypertension, ischemic disease, diabetes mellitus, results were similar: HR 1.06 1.01–1.10) 2.45 1.02–5.61). Overweight not any models. population-attributable risk due 43.0% 13.9–74.9). Conclusions: High rate differences, HRs, attributable indicate that important factor HF.
