Three new species of Pipunculidae (Diptera) are described (one named), from the early Eocene (Ypresian) Okanagan Highlands British Columbia, Canada and Washington State, United States America: Metanephrocerus belgardeae Republic, Washington; A Pipunculinae Quilchena, Columbia. We re-describe late (Priabonian) Protonephrocerus florissantius Carpenter Hull Florissant, Colorado, America, assign it to a genus proposed here, Priabona genus. is oldest known member family whose wing lacks separated M2 vein; previously this had been in only as old Miocene Dominican amber. This presumably derived character state that predominant modern species. Molecular analysis indicates an origin Maastrichtian; morphological taxonomic diversity seen here Ypresian consistent with radiation family. concordant Auchenorrhyncha, upon which they mostly prey, turn associated Paleogene diversification angiosperm-dominated forests recovering K-Pg extinction event.
