摘要: Publisher Summary A nerve fibre stimulated with identical electrical rectangular pulses of about-threshold intensity responds an action potential in a fraction all trials. This phenomenon, the fluctuation excitability, viz. property that threshold region to non-random, fixed, input certain probability, reveals existence noise factor excitation. is endogenous fibre, as can be concluded from mutual independency reacting fibres two-fibre preparation upon application same stimulus. It simple model describes intensity-probability and duration-probability relations encountered quite satisfactorily. The general characteristics latency-distributions predicted by appear hold for they indicate means further study “noise” fibres. Observations on behavior different intensities frequency band widths revealed increasing width renders triggerable unit more excitable, effect pronounced long duration stimuli, increases (relative threshold), which short stimuli. implications these findings regard actual are discussed.
