摘要: Background and Purpose In Norway, as well other industrialized countries, mortality from stroke has declined over the past decades. Data on morbidity are lacking. This study was conducted to determine incidence, case fatality, risk factors of in a defined Norwegian population. Methods During period 1994 1996, population-based registry collected uniform information about all cases first-ever recurrent occurring people aged ≥15 years region Innherred central part Norway (target population 70 000), where prevalence cardiovascular screened 1984 1986 1995 1997. Results 2 registration (September 1, 1994, August 31, 1996), 432 (72.8%) 161 (27.2%) strokes were registered. The crude annual incidence rate 3.12/1000 (2.85/1000 for males 3.38/1000 females). Adjusted European population, 2.21/1000. cerebral infarction 2.32/1000, intracerebral hemorrhage 0.32/1000, subarachnoid 0.19/1000, unspecified 0.38/1000. 30-day case-fatality 10.9% infarction, 37.8% hemorrhage, 50.0% stroke. Fourteen percent patients found outside hospital, only 50% suspected hospital (at admission or reviewed discharge diagnosis ICD-9 codes 430 438) fitted final inclusion criteria. Conclusions first register revealed rates similar Scandinavian comparison between countries did not indicate regional variations within Western Europe.
