摘要: Liver cirrhosis is a major cause of death worldwide and accounts for large number hospitalizations. Deaths due to increased by 46% between 1990 2013, it has become the fifth leading worldwide. So far, no reliable noninvasive test been available perform population-wide screening cirrhosis. However, recent introduction transient elastography (TE) which measures liver stiffness (LS) allowed first time noninvasively screen larger cohorts presence This chapter provides an overview studies based on TE either in general population or at specific risk develop disease. In summary, show prevalence elevated LS 5.6 7.5% while was found 18 27% among individuals with factors. These findings indicate alarmingly high chronic diseases population, mainly related NAFLD ALD. whether global strategy methods such as cost-effective terms health outcomes treatment costs still matter debate. Taken together, programs fibrosis both patients factors diabetes may be could implemented across countries different healthcare systems Europe.
