Photodissociation channels and energy partitioning in the photofragmentation of alkyl iodides

摘要: Abstract Studies on the photofragmentation of CH 3 I, C 2 H 7 and i -C I have been carried out using a rotatable pulsed molecular beam crossed with KrF excimer laser. TOF spectra iodine atom fragments show separation primary photodissociation channels I*( P 1 ) I( . The [I*]/[I] ratios obtained are 2.80, 2.37, 1.61, 0.96, respectively, by translational energy measurements recoiling photofragments. internal excitation alkyl ( E int is determined balance. fraction available energy, which goes into excitation, increases from 12.5% for I* channel to 64% both I. bond energies D C-I methyl ethyl iodide 55.0±0.5 55.3±1.0 kcal/mol according maximum release in channel. origin (caused curve crossing) discussed.
