摘要: According to UN-Habitat (2007) “a slum is a heavily populated urban informal settlement characterized by substandard housing and squalor”. The word generally used describe low-income settlements with deprived conditions. (UN-Habitat, 2006). There no universally agreed definition of the slum. As conditions differ from country country, different scholars various countries define term “slum” differently. Definitions mainly include: illegal, poorly-constructed without basic services, even when some them are relatively more have proper structures? An can be defined as stated Huchzermeyer Karam (2006) those that were not planned nor formal permission exist government. Srinivas (1991) defines settlement/ slums an area where poor resides usually access tenure rights forced ‘squat’ on vacant land either private or public. While slums/ in size other characteristics counties, but what most slums/informal share common lack reliable services such supply clean water, electricity, timely law enforcement services. (UN-Habitat 2007).
