Effect of stage of disease and drug dose on zidovudine susceptibilities of isolates of human immunodeficiency virus.

摘要: Ninety-seven isolates of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) from 73 individuals were assayed for susceptibility to zidovudine (AZT). All 41 with no known therapy uniformly susceptible the drug in vitro. In contrast subjects AIDS or AIDS-related complex, fewer signs and symptoms high CD4 lymphocyte counts developed reduced at slower rates lower levels resistance. Patients receiving doses both early late stages disease did not develop resistance more readily than patients higher drug.
