摘要: Objective To describe the processes of establishing and running Cancer Experiences Collaborative (CECo), reflect upon benefits challenges undertaking collaborative research in supportive palliative care. Design A descriptive analysis a 5-year initiated 2006. Setting Research groups at Universities Lancaster, Liverpool, Manchester, Nottingham Southampton, England. Participants 26 UK organisations including four largest hospices England, hospital cancer centres, Help Hospices (a national charity supporting independent hospices) user representatives. Findings The aim CECo was to enhance value, quality productivity scientific care, increase capacity improve coordination research. Three programmatic themes were established: (i) innovative approaches complex symptoms, (ii) planning for care older adults towards end life (iii) methodology narrative approaches. Four are highlighted: strategic leadership management structures cross-institutional work, working multidisciplinary linking with practice settings, building, involvement. Conclusions activities have resulted significant an good studies that led production number peer-reviewed papers, learning between academics, clinicians users, which has contributed raising standards However, future such initiatives is fragile, concerns about sustainability collaboration face diminishing resources.
