摘要: Human interleukin (IL)-11 was first isolated and characterized by Paul colleagues in 1990 [1] as one of the essential elements hematopoietic microenvironment. It initially described a growth factor from stromal bone marrow which could support plasmacytoma cell line had profound effects on megakaryocyte development. subsequently shown that this is remarkably pleiotropic cytokine with numerous physiologic attributes affecting non-hematopoietic lines [2]. Recent experimental evidence indicates IL-11 possesses therapeutic properties may prove to be beneficial prevention treatment human sepsis. This chapter will summarize current knowledge important describe its potential role septic patient.
