摘要: Purpose: To compare problems of attention in schoolchildren with newly diagnosed idiopathic or cryptogenic epilepsy those healthy classmates. Methods: A computerized battery tasks comprised Reaction Time (RT) measurement, Trail making (Color Trails 1 and 2), Manual Tapping Steadiness, a developed task sustained (Balloon Piercing). Subjects: Fifty-one children (age 7–16 years) 48 gender- age-matched classmates were assessed thrice: within h after diagnosis [before start antiepileptic drugs (AEDs)], 3 12 months later. Significantly more (51%) than control (27%) had required special educational assistance at school. Results: Children could not be distinguished from controls execution times motor speed. However, errors frequent among patients “go–no-go” RT task, omission requiring attention. Within the group epilepsy, prior school behavior difficulties whose parents reacted maladaptively to onset performed worse without these adversities, sense that their increased inordinately increasing difficulty. Epilepsy-related variables did explain any variance. Transient poor performances found 69% 40% controls. Conclusions: “epilepsy only” do have persistent deficits. AED treatment has no detrimental effect on Prior maladaptive reaction rather are related decreased attentional efficiency.
