摘要: Hydroxyapatite (HA) ceramics are used as implants to repair damaged/removed bone, and negative or positive electrical polarization enhances osteoblast decreases osteoclast activity, respectively, in vivo. We compared the ability of electrically polarized non-polarized HA with interconnected pores (IPHA) promote bone growth. Polarized non-treated IPHAs were implanted into right left femoral condyle rabbits (N = 10 each group), we performed histological examination, including enzymatic staining for osteoblasts osteoclasts, 3 6 weeks after implantation. observed improved ingrowth increased activity complete penetration occurring early surgery. In contrast, not fully ossified at Furthermore, positively charged implant regions had decreased negatively uncharged regions. propose two different models explain these observations.
