摘要: Abstract Purpose: The degree of ischemia during intermittent claudication is difficult to quantify. We evaluated calf muscle exercise in patients with near infrared spectroscopy. Methods: A Critikon Cerebral Redox Model 2001 (Johnson & Johnson Medical, Newport, Gwent, United Kingdom) was used measure deoxygenated hemoglobin (HHb), oxygenated (O 2 Hb), and total levels oxygenation index (HbD; HbD=O Hb − HHb) 16 14 control subjects before, during, after walking on a treadmill for 1 minute (submaximal exercise). These measures were repeated second maximal 7 minutes subjects. Near-infrared spectroscopy readings then compared model induced tourniquet young Results: Total level changed little both HHb rose, O HbD falls more pronounced than submaximal exercise. During exercise, fell markedly by median (interquartile range) 210.5 μmol/cm (108.2 337.0 μmol/cm) 66.0 (44.0 101.0 elderly 41.0 (36.0 65.0 ( P = .006). Conclusion: Hemoglobin desaturation exercising profound claudication, considerably greater even that three occlusion. Further studies are necessary investigate the relationship between inflammatory response near-infrared claudication. (J Vasc Surg 2002;89-93.)
