Fabrication of three functionalized silica adsorbents: Impact of co-immobilization of imidazole, phenyl and long-chain alkyl groups on bisphenol A adsorption from high salt aqueous solutions

摘要: Abstract Based on the physicochemical properties of bisphenol A (BPA), chemical co-immobilizations imidazole, phenyl and hexadecyl were done onto silica to obtain three functionalized adsorbents. Accordingly, combinations phenyl, imidazole named as Sil-(HDTMS-MPS)-VIm, Sil-(HDTMS-MPS)-S Sil-MPS-(S-VIm), respectively. The composites characterized by FTIR, TGA SEM. aim this work was explore how these typical functional groups affect adsorption behavior BPA. Experiments demonstrated that alkaline would play a key role for BPA adsorption, synergy exhibited highest affinities in pH range 4.0–9.0 due high Kow value maximum capacity Sil-(HDTMS-MPS)-VIm obtained from Langmuir model 89.6 mg/g at 293 K. Furthermore, prepared silicas retained their good capacities salt solutions, behaviors adsorbents well described pseudo-second-order kinetic Freundlich model. This suggests hydrogen bond-forming group hydrophobic long-chain alkyl benefits removal aqueous solutions.
