摘要: The characteristics and primary structure of AJL-1, one the lectins in skin mucus Japanese eel (Anguilla japonica), were examined. This lectin exhibited beta-galactoside specific activity a Ca2+ independent manner. We previously reported that its molecular mass was 16,091Da, although it approximately 30 kDa as determined by gel filtration, indicating is homodimer having non-covalent bonds. composed 142 amino acid residues no half-cystinyl residues, showed homology to members galectin family, especially proto-type galectins. Gene expression this detected only, relative high an individual resistance infectious disease. AJL-1 agglutinating against pathogenic bacteria, Streptococcus difficile. suggests functions important defensive factor at body surface.
