摘要: Both calcification and FDG uptake have been advocated as indicators of atheroma. Atheromas calcify cells in the lesion undergo apoptosis necrosis during evolution at end stage lesion. concentrates lesions due to relatively dense cellularity regions inflammation active atheromas. This investigation examines geographic relationship focal vascular 18F-FDG uptake, a marker atherosclerotic inflammation, arterial detected by contemporaneous CT. Methods: We reviewed PET/CT images from 78 patients who were referred for tumor staging presence calcification. Arterial wall accumulation greater than adjacent blood-pool activity was considered inflammation. attenuation >130 Hounsfield units Sites ascending descending aorta, carotid iliac arteries, coronary territories examined on emission, CT, fusion point-by-point basis. When seen, we evaluated whether they overlapping or discrete. Results: The distribution consistent with established topography, increased thoracic bifurcation, proximal vessels. Arteries typically displayed patchwork normal vessel, calcification; overlapped
