摘要: Drug repurposing, also known as drug repositioning/reprofiling, is a relatively new strategy for the identification of alternative uses well-known therapeutics that are outside scope their original medical indications. Such an approach might entail number advantages compared to standard de novo development, including less time needed introduce market, and lower costs. The group compounds could be considered promising candidates repurposing in oncology include central nervous system drugs, especially selected antidepressant antipsychotic agents. In this article, we provide overview some antidepressants (citalopram, fluoxetine, paroxetine, sertraline) antipsychotics (chlorpromazine, pimozide, thioridazine, trifluoperazine) have potential repurposed novel chemotherapeutics cancer treatment, they been found exhibit preventive and/or therapeutic action patients. Nevertheless, although seems attractive search oncological would like clearly indicate it should not replace lead structures, but only complement development.
