摘要: Background. Nearly half of recent immigrants to the United States lack health insurance. Access cancer screening services for this group is problematic. We examine role insurance and having a usual source care (USC) on Pap smear mammography utilization by immigrant women using nationally representative sample. Methods. used telephone survey that oversampled racial ethnic minorities. analyzed data 3,622 age 18–70. classified 822 foreign-born as if they had resided in under 10 years; LT were those with longer tenure. Results. Among immigrants, 73% 78% (SE 4%) reported or mammogram, respectively, previous 2 years versus 89% U.S.-born (P < 0.05 both comparisons). USC, differences between four percentage points less not statistically significant. However, uninsured likely than have smears [60% 7%) 71%, P 0.05]. Adjusting sociodemographics, attitudes beliefs, patient provider communication, medical environment, remained strongest predictor screening. Conclusion. Disparities greatly attenuated among insured population. Increasing awareness available safety net sources may also improve immigrants.
