摘要: Precipitation, runoff, snowpack, and other elements of the hydrologic cycle respond to climate change on many different timescales. Responses are typically regional rather than local linked large-scale features general circulation atmosphere. Changes in hydroclimatology important water resources most parts world, but especially arid semiarid regions that often plagued by chronic shortfalls water. Instrumental records precipitation streamflow indicate changes decadal-and-longer timescales have been large enough be practical importance, paleoclimatic suggest even larger occurred over past few centuries. Tree-ring perhaps useful for extracting hydroclimatic estimates with annual resolution. Paleolimnological data has also figured prominently pointing out possible prior start tree-ring record. In North America, multiple types proxy low-frequency variance runoff may amplified about 500 years ago, associated multidecadal periods drought wetness.
