Tolerability of Definitive Chemoradiotherapy in Elderly Patients with Esophageal Cancer

摘要: Definitive chemoradiotherapy(CRT)for esophageal cancer is the standard treatment and alternative to surgery. However, tolerability of CRT in elderly patients not well known. In this study, we retrospectively analyzed 60 with who were treated CRT(5-FU 700 mg/m2, cisplatin 70 radiation Gy)at our hospital between January 2015 September 2017. The divided into 2 groups: an group comprising 16 aged >75 years a non-elderly 44 <74 years. relative dose intensity was significantly lower than that group. Radiotherapy successfully executed both groups. More elderly(25%)than group(7%)developed pneumonitis, all developed severe pneumonitis died. Application definitive irradiation methods subpleural reticular shadow should be carefully considered before initiating therapy.
