摘要: Submerged aquatic vegetation is known as a key structural component and regulator in ecosystems. In this mesocosm study, we examine community- system-level responses to the presence of Vallisneria americana (L), deep-rooted macrophyte. Phytoplankton, bacteria filamentous algal biomasses were significantly lowered V. americana. addition, mesocosms with macrophytes had reduced porewater phosphate iron, water column dissolved organic carbon total suspended solids, but elevated sediment redox. All net autotrophic (gross primary production/respiration >1). Compared macrophyte treatments, control lower diel production (NPP) midway through experiment (d 16), at end 36), controls higher values, presumably due increased algae. NPP NPP/R constant whereas from middle controls. We show that community have significant consequences on system structure function.
