Isolation and characterization of Mesenchymal Stem Cells from pituitary tumours

摘要: In the past few years introduction of cancer stem cells (CSCs) notion opened new perspectives for diagnosis and cure solid tumors. According to this theory, CSCs originate from mutated cells, maintaining self-renewal differentiative abilities. Therefore, development specific therapies targeted at holds hope improvement survival quality life patients. Actually, no informations are available about on pituitary tumours. This work depicts some essential features isolated adenomas. Six tumour biopsies (3: GH-secreting; 3: non secreting) were collected cultured with a culture medium. Cell growth morphology monitored subjected analyses stemness determination (immunophenotype, gene expression potential) [1, 2] GH secretion. Cells showed stem-like immunophenotype, Oct-4, Sox-2, Nanog Klf-4 ability differentiate towards osteogenic, chondrogenic adipogenic lineages. The hormone secretion ended after two weeks culturing.
