摘要: Megacities of South Asia face the challenges decreasing recharge and dwindling ground water resources because rapid urbanization, high population growth, rural-to-urban migration. Sustainable approaches for in future should account such trends patterns context increasing imperviousness, recharge. This study explores vulnerability one fastest growing megacities Asia, Dhaka (in Bangladesh), using a bottom–up contextual approach. Using observational evidence, it pursues questions as what are rainfall urban runoff around city how can they be leveraged sustainable planning ? The finds that experiences strong spatial signature, where region downwind seems to receive statistically higher than upwind region. In wider country, also regions general less nonurban regions. Finally, at current state approximately 62% is predicted available city, which currently untapped potential mitigating source. Projected demand growth indicate this source could used artificial buildup groundwater stock by reducing pressure on extraction until 2025. An independent pilot-scale conducted Bangladesh Institute Water Modeling from rain harvesting has recently verified effectiveness assessment approach decision-making tool adaptation community.
