摘要: Methane from enteric fermentation of organic matter by ruminants is considered a key contributor to climate change. This study examined the effect feeding total mixed ration at different intervals, either once, twice or four times daily, on pattern methane emission lactating dairy cows and developed response function based exponentials describe observed patterns emission. The describes an asymmetrical shape exhibiting continuous rise peak followed period linear decline. There were differences between treatments in terms output emission, with peaks following feedings. rate decline production post-prandially was linked amount dry consumed each feeding. simple model fitted data satisfactorily provides biological description for fluctuations release changes pattern. could be applied more widely as part inventories further work examine eating behaviour across systems.
