摘要: The prevention of dental caries and periodontal diseases is targeted at the control plaque. In this context, chemical agents could represent a valuable complement to mechanical plaque control. active should prevent biofilm formation without affecting biological equilibrium within oral cavity. Depending on goals preventive measures, various strategies may be considered. Anti-plaque with properties other than bactericidal or bacteriostatic activities used in primary prevention. approach, modest anti-plaque effect sufficient even desirable, as it would decrease side effects agent. Antimicrobial are best indicated secondary tertiary prevention, objectives restore health disease recurrence. rational delay subgingival recolonization by pathogenic micro-organisms. development vitro models certainly represents major advance for studying testing recent years. results these studies have shown that chlorhexidine, hexetidine, delmopinol, amine fluoride/ stannous fluoride, triclosan, phenolic compounds, among others, inhibit maturation well affect bacterial metabolism.
