摘要: Two mitochondrial DNA regions and seven microsatellite loci were examined in Patagonian toothfish from three locations the Southern Ocean (Macquarie Island, five collections; Heard McDonald Islands, four Shag Rocks/South Georgia area, one collection). Striking mtDNA heterogeneity was detected between fishing (FST=0.445, P<0.001), but spatial temporal collections within same location not significantly different. No significant overall differentiation apparent (FST=−0.009, P=0.785). However, some individual showed small differentiation, which each case attributable to rather than within-location differentiation. Greater of can, principle, be explained either by female philopatry male dispersal, or its greater sensitivity changes effective population size. The latter seems more likely as tagging indicates that is generally a sedentary species. genetic restricted gene flow, with fish at comprising independent units. Depletion therefore unlikely quickly replaced immigration another.
